Qassim Alsaedy is een schilder die oorspronkelijk uit Irak komt. Sinds de jaren 70 is hij in ballingschap en woont sinds 1994 in Nederland. Zijn werk gaat over de liefde voor een persoon, een idee, een plaats of een land. De eeuwige strijd tussen oorlog, haat, lelijkheid en slechtheid en hun tegenpolen vrede, liefde, goedheid en schoonheid. Qassim is een veelzijdig kunstenaar die naast schilderijen ook drie dimensionaal werkt. In samenwerking met keramist Brigitte Reuter, produceert hij dramatische en mysterieuze keramische stukken.
Qassim Alsaedy is a painter originally from Iraq. Since the 70’s he has been in exile and has been living in The Netherlands since 1994. His work is about the love for a person, an idea, a place or a country. The eternal struggle between war, hatred, ugliness and wickedness and their opposites peace, love, goodness and beauty. Qassim is a versatile artist who besides paintings works in three dimensional objects. In collaboration with ceramist Brigitte Reuter, he produces dramatic and mysterious ceramic pieces.
